Steakley Interviews
There have been seven chat sessions w/ Steakley. The first was done in November of '97, in a randomly chosen chat room on the web.
The second was an open chat in March of '98 in the chat room on this very page.
The third was a short chat in February of 1999. Steakley had been out of touch for a long time, and basically just wanted to touch base with his fans.
The fourth chat was in August of 1999. I was unable to attend due to a lighting induced computer crash, but a trasncript of most of the chat is provided, courtesy of Todd Downing.
The fifth chat was in September of 1999. It was so soon after #4 because I missed #4 and Steakley took pity upon me.
The sixth chate was in March of 2000. To be honest, there wasn't a lot of news. In fact, there wasn't much at all, but a lot of personal information and cool discussion. And lots of filthy jokes.
The seventh chat was in April of 2001. Lots of fun. Some news, and Steakley finally gave me permission to distribute copies of ALL his short stories. A few new projects of Steakley's were discussed, as well, and Steakley told a cool story about why the cover of Vampire$ is the way it is, and how Ray Bradbury tried to help him with some lady trouble.
You'll note an extensive gap here - Several chats occurred during this period, but the chat software we were using at the time ("Parachat") no longer allowed transcripts. So there's no text of the chats, you'll just have to take our word for it they were good.
The first chat on the new site occurred in December, 2004, about a week before Christmas. A few bugs occurred in the chat software, but the important parts are that Steakley has finally given permission to post the bits of "Gabriel" I have, we discussed his op/ed pieces in a Texas newspaper, and an annoying troll tried to ruin the chat for everyone.
